About Historic Depot Park

Take a walk in the past at Historic Depot Park. Time travel takes on special meaning at one of America’s oldest remaining railroad depots. The Historic Huntsville Depot is a three-story brick building dating back to 1860 when it served as the local passenger house and corporate offices for the eastern division headquarters of the Memphis & Charleston Railroad.  It was used as an active passenger station until 1968. In 1971, the Depot was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. Kids of all ages will enjoy seeing the trains on display in the public park.

Our mission is to nurture and explore Huntsville’s rich history through the preservation of its first train station and engaging exhibits that highlight transportation’s impact on our community.
