Position:   Operations Manager - Historic Huntsville Depot

 

Supervisor: Director of Operation

Employee Code: 9822             

Employment Status:   Full Time                                              Status:       Exempt

 

Position summary:  

This position is responsible for the daily operation of the Historic Huntsville Depot and all facilities/grounds identified as part of the museum's operation.  This position is responsible for ensuring superior customer service and providing exemplary experiences for all visitors, while maximizing the profitability within all facets of the operation.  This position must work in tandem with all departments and employees to ensure cross-marketing, expense sharing and the coordination of resources.  In particular, continual coordination with the Education department is required to guarantee that all program content and its' presentation is delivered in the approved manner.  In the absence of the Director of Operations this position reports directly to the Executive Director.

 

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for on-site supervision during all phases of the operation
  • Responsible for staff and volunteer recruitment, selection, training, scheduling and retention
  • Responsible for supervising staff and volunteers
  • Responsible for quality implementation of all approved education, public and special event programming
  • Responsible for site appearance and facility/exhibit maintenance
  • Responsible for maintaining and coordinating with all departments a facilities usage schedule
  • Responsible for annual budget planning and daily budgetary decisions
  • Responsible for developing and supervising cash-control procedures
  • Responsible, on occasion, for publicly representing the EarlyWorks Museum Complex to any and all outside groups and audiences
  • Ensure compliance with the Standard Operating Policies

 

Recommended Preparation for Employment:

  • College degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
  • Personnel management experience
  • Computer literate with specific knowledge of Microsoft applications and tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Multi-task oriented work style - A "Do what ever it takes" attitude
  • Energetic and friendly approach to working with the public
  • Highly developed organizational and customer service skills

•·         Experience working on and maximizing the productivity of project driven teams

 

Necessary Special Requirement:

  • Valid driver's license

 

Physical and Environmental Factors:

Work is performed both indoors and outdoors.  Work requires frequent physical effort such as sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling and lifting light to moderately heavy objects.  Work also requires physical dexterity in the frequent use of hand-eye coordination and manipulative skills using fingers and limbs.
